Item Description

When it comes to Spinel, nothing tops the Ruby Red color which made Spinels famous. In fact, the term "Ruby Spinel" is derived from the fact that the Crown Jewels of England: Black Prince's Ruby is actually a Spinel! The stone was long thought to be a blood red Ruby when in fact it was discovered to be a gigantic Spinel that is estimated to weigh over 170 carats!! This stone exhibits a rich Ruby color. It is an exceptional, bright, virtually eye clean, intense red color, "Oval Step" cut gemstone. This gem is very attractive, it would look outstanding in a ring, pendant or whatever you wish! You can't go wrong with this one. It is difficult to find superb quality Spinels because of political upheaval in southeast Asia. It appears that these stones will soon be very very hard to come across and the days of the good Ruby Spinels may be dwindling. I hope everybody appreciates the immense rarity of this stone. The retail price on this gem is approximately $296.
