Item Description

In the gem world, Rubies have been referred to as the "King of Gems", as fine transparent examples are incredibly elusive and highly valuable. When it comes to faceted stones, the best known examples are those from Myanmar, and you'll find some fine quality examples from places like Kenya, Mozambique and Sri Lanka on the market, but in a reduced quantity. A couple years ago, one of our good friends in Peshawar, (a gem dealer), offered us a tiny parcel (only a few stones) of some of the best GEM quality Rubies from Afghanistan that we've ever seen. The color and clarity of these gems was fantastic, and the best part is that they were completely untreated (no heating, glass-filling or alteration in any way), which makes them all the more valuable. We're happy to offer this stone in the auctions to give everybody a chance to obtain one of these beautiful and rare Rubies from the Jegdalek Deposit. This stone is a wonderful "Cushion" cut gem with a glowing reddish-pink hue and excellent clarity. It's not a terribly large stone, but the quality is fantastic, and the rare locality only increases its value and desirability.
