Item Description

Although Sapphire is found in every color of the rainbow (except red, when they are then classified as Rubies), the one hue that is most synonymous with the material is blue. The phrase "sapphire blue" is commonly used outside of the gem world, and this stone is a classic example of said material. This "Oval Cabochon" cut gem has good transparency with a rich saturated color. There seems to be a SLIGHT amount of asterism when the stone is viewed under strong lighting, but I can't see an actual "star" or even a "cat's eye", just faint lines in areas when the stone is rotated in the light.

From the old inventory of Ray Zajicek, a respected wholesaler and founding member of AGTA and the International Colored Gemstone Association, with decades of experience in the gem and jewelry business.  Ray has won more than a dozen Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards (TM).
