Sapphire Carving

Item Description

This is an interesting and unusual Sapphire carving from Tanzania. It somewhat resembles a pill bug or a roly poly, but the most interesting aspect is that it shows different colors when lit from different directions. The color is mostly a warm pink tone, but there are slight golden overtones in certain lighting. We've done our best to illustrate this unusual coloring in the photos, but it honestly has to be seen in person. This is certainly an odd carving, and we've only had one other carving like it from Tanzania.
