Item Description

Some of you might have seen this new material on the market recently. This stone is from a new find of Sapphires from the Songea area in Tanzania. The Corundum in Songea has a very high Magnesium content which results in one of the widest spectrums of color for Sapphires and Rubies from any one locality in the world. The color in this stone is a rich, blue color with purple highlight in sunlight. In halogen lighting the color is a pinkish-purple. This gem is a beautiful, rich color, very slightly included, "Oval Step" cut gem. The retail value on this stone is $300 per carat.
