A beautiful GEMMY, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, doubly-terminated blue color Sapphire crystal from an undisclosed locality in Sri Lanka (most likely Ratnapura). The piece is a complete "floater" with no point of attachment. Looking closely I can't see any real damage with the naked eye. CLASSIC gem material from Sri Lanka! Weight is 1.92 grams / 9.60 carats. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#857). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
