A gigantic Scapolite from Sri Lanka of all places. This stone is certainly one of the largest Scapolite gems that I have seen, and is definitely the largest Sri Lankan Scapolite that we have had to offer. It is a beautiful, large, essentially colorless gem with a "Modified Cushion Cut". The quality of the cutting is very good, and the fact that the stone is virtually eye clean makes is a very impressive gem! I can certainly qualify this stone as being "museum quality", and I have not handled many Scapolites over ten carats, let alone a stone that was approaching 50 carats! A rare stone collector, or any collector of fine calibre gems can certainly appreciate the immense size and rarity of a piece like this.
