Scapolite (doubly-terminated crystal)

Item Description

A euhedral, sharp, striated, translucent, "icy" yellow color, prismatic crystal of Scapolite (Marialite-Meionite Series) from the lesser known locality in the Karur District, Tamil Nadu, India. The piece is very gemmy throughout, and in great condition, with no major damage. It's actually a doubly-terminated "floater" crystal and complete on all sides. As is often the case with any gemmy scapolite crystal, the color is much stronger when viewing the crystal down the "c" axis. These crystals came from a find in 2013, and all but disappeared from the market, as virtually nothing has been seen since. Specimen weight is 4.11 grams.
