Item Description

A VERY hard to find group of crystallized Scapolite from "Dudman Lake" (according to the label) in Ontario. I honestly have never seen one of these before, and it features with well-formed, sharp, prismatic, translucent, pale yellow tetragonal prisms associated with a greenish mineral (possibly a Pyroxene?) to create a showy and three-dimensional display specimen. The Scapolites are not gem quality, but they certainly pass light when backlit. Two of the crystals are undamaged, and the only real damage I can see is a contact on the back of the third crystal where the piece was removed from the pocket. I can't say for sure if this is Meionite or Marialite, so we're leaving it as "Scapolite", but it's certainly a very worthwhile piece of the elusive material. If you collect Scapolites or related species, or Canadian minerals, you can't afford to miss out on this rare display piece. Valued at $750. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3402). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
