Item Description

In the 1970's-1980's, the Camp Bird mine produced some very characteristic Scheelite specimens. These crystals have an easily recognizable brownish hue (with slight golden overtones). Most of these Scheelite crystals will fluoresce a bright blue-white color under SW UV light. The crystals on this specimen show good pyramidal tetragonal form with above average luster, and sharp faces - with crystals measuring up to 6 mm on Quartz matrix. The piece is in good shape overall, and is a nice example of this now very hard to find material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12065). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
