Item Description

The famous Tae Wha mine in Korea has produced some very attractive Tungsten minerals. The Scheelites and Ferberites from this mine are some of the most classic examples of their respective species. This specimen hosts a beautiful, 5 mm, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, uniquely "purple" color pseudo-octahedral crystal of Scheelite aesthetically sitting atop a single Quartz crystal that is partially intergrowh with Ferberite (Wolframite). The piece is complete on the display side (contacted on the back), and is very good condition overall despite a few tiny nicks here and there. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the specimen is the fact that the Scheelite actually shows a few small negative / "skeletal" / "cavernous" faces on one side, which is uncommon in my experience with Scheelite in general. Don't miss out on this attractive specimen from this storied locality that dates back decades. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9878). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
