Item Description

There is little in the Tourmaline family that compares to the habit of these highly unusual specimens from Mexico. At this locality, slender Schorl crystals grew with a feathery habit, with these 1.7 cm crystals oriented in the same direction. They are all terminated, and deep black crystals have a good luster that actually makes them look silvery when the light strikes them accordingly. That explains what look like 'gray' areas on the specimen. At their best here, the overall specimen looks like a christmas tree of black Schorl crystals. Quite striking, and even better in pertson. These were found in the early 1990s.
