Item Description

This more obscure pegmatite mine in Riverside County, not famous San Diego County, is well-known for fine schorl specimens. A cute rabbit ears pair of lustrous, well-striated crystals with frosted termination faces is aesthetically set atop the muscovite matrix. The schorls are up to 2.8 cm long. Complete all-around. The expert repairs to both crystals just above the muscovite are noted. These are certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species, which are susceptible to tectonic forces. Ex Kay Robertson # 13005. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Seldom on the market.
