Item Description

An impressive, large, two-sided, schorl specimen from an obscure road cut in Grafton County. The highly lustrous, jet-black trigonal crystals have sharp pyramidal terminations. The quartz and muscovite are fine accents. Nearly pristine, with just a bit of termination contacting/edge wear to the large crystal. Very rare, self-collected schorl from the Bob Whitmore Collection. Everyone would like to self-collect a piece this good from this well-known pegmatite-rich county, but mostly all you see are broken bits and pieces. This is a very fine piece, in excellent condition.
