Item Description

The pegmatites around Jefferson County, Montana have produced some interesting and attractive specimens in recent years. This piece is a worthwhile, sharp, lustrous, prismatic, jet-black colored Schorl Tourmaline crystal. If you look closely, you can see that the crystal is slightly "bent" near the base, which is not common, but not unheard of for Tourmalines. Sharp faces, good crystallization and above average luster make for one of the better Schorls from this area that I've seen. If you're a Tourmaline collector, a collector of Montana minerals, or U.S. miniatures this is a great one to add to your collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9677). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
