Schorl with Beryl var: Aquamarine

Item Description

A wonderful association specimen featuring an excellent, well-formed, jet-black, doubly-terminated trigonal crystal of Schorl with alternating lustrous and somewhat chatoyant "matte" faces associated with additional crystals of Schorl and gemmy, narrow hexagonal prisms of Aquamarine, and no matrix. The big Schorl crystal in the middle of the specimen measures 2.3 cm, and the largest Aqua measures 1.4 cm long. No major damage to the Schorl crystals, though some of the Aquas are contacted in spots. This piece is somewhat of an "inverse" of what we're used to seeing from this area as the Aquamarine crystals are typically more pronounced and are sitting ON Schorl, so to find a piece where Schorl is more prominently featured over Aquamarine is certainly rare. A beautiful combo piece for any fan of gem minerals, specimens from Namibia or Tourmalines/Beryls.
