Item Description

This keynote featured auction specimen is one of the iconic mineral specimens of the Gene Meieran collection of world-class gem species crystals and has such a unique look to it that it is immediately memorable among all other Pakistani mineral combination specimens. The schorl is superb on its own merit, and the aquamarines are fairly nice as well- but it is the sculptural combination that makes this one of the more recognizable specimens of the 1990s and early 2000s production in Pakistan. The piece actually can even stand on its own, using the aquamarine "legs" as a balance, but we would display it at true vertical in a custom base. The large aquamarine is doubly-terminated and 10.3 cm long, while the two smaller aquamarines are 6 to 7 cm each (also doubly-terminated). As you can see in the photo, the arrangement is shocking. You would simply have to expect and tolerate a few repairs in such a specimen, as Nature could not give this work of art to us otherwise. This does have one lock fit repair in the middle of the schorl, clearly made at the mine, which should be redone by a modern laboratory and could be made nearly eye-invisible (you see it now, in person, and although it never bothered the original owner I would certainly improve it to modern cleaning standards... and take the value upside from the re-repair). Gene bought it so quickly he never blinked, essentially mine-run with a quick cleaning and a repair done before it came to market; and never thought twice about it, as it is so amazing sitting on a shelf with other important gem crystals of his. This favorite of the collection has never been on the market, and this is the first time for public sale. It is valued highly, but with such unique things, among the vast multitude of common pegmatite specimens and aquamarines, whatever price it goes for will be in my humble opinion a relative bargain compared to the prices even typical aquamarines go for these days because this one is UNIQUE in the world.
