Item Description

Striking diverging sprays of glassy, translucent to transparent scolecite needles fill two sides of a vug in basalt matrix on this rich and showy small cabinet from this famous Iceland locale. The prisms reach 6.7 cm long. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2847 and acquired at the Hollywood Show in 1963. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). An excellent and uncommon old-time classic from Teigarhorn.
