Item Description

Scorodite is VERY RARE from any of the 17 Cumbria localities listed by MINDAT for the species. This showy and uncommon combination is probably from one of the famous historic mines of Cornwall or Devon. Lustrous, translucent, rich marine-blue scorodite crystals are aesthetically clustered on the botryoidal kidney stone hematite layered matrix. There's more scorodite on the bottom, as a bonus. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5184 and acquired from the Shale's in the mid- to late-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). A classic scorodite color on an uncommon matrix and undoubtedly an old-time specimen. Rare association
