Item Description

Diopside specimens from this extinct nickel mine are a Quebec and Canadian classic. This exceptionally well formed diopside crystal has lustrous prism faces and a matte termination. The color is a very light tan.The termination and all four prism edges are translucent/gemmy yellow-green, which is uncommon to the species and locale. At one time, crystals of this material were fairly plentiful, but specimens of this size and quality were always hard to find. Pristine. Two sides have impressions, where other crystals once lay, but there is no damage, per se. Ex William Hiss and Robert Nowakowski Collection. Valued at $600 for very high quality and sharpness.
