Item Description

If you ask around, some of the locals in Bolivia consider the Siete Suyos Mine to be part of the Animas Mine, but it depends on your perspective. A lot of Bolivian material is often sold with erroneous locality information, but this one was purchased at the locality from the man who found it a few years ago. For reference, the Siete Suyos Mine translates into "Seven Servants" in English. If you like carbonates, this is a nice piece to add to your collection. This attractive large thumbnail sized specimen features a rhombic crystal of Siderite with sharp, well-formed, attractive, stepped faces and an eye-catching greenish-golden color when backlit associated with minor golden Pyrite and no matrix. A secondary sidecar crystal of Siderite can be seen on the base of the piece for a nice touch. Most Siderite from Bolivian is dark brown / black and opaque, so the fact that these crystals are translucent is a big deal. As a matter of fact, you really don't see Siderite crystals quite like this from any world locality, so they're not only significant from Bolivia, but also on a worldwide scale. The piece is in great shape overall, as the vast majority of the crystal is undamaged on the display side, though the periphery is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. I only have a handful of these left to offer, and not that many were found, so if you're interested in picking one of these up, now is the time. There are very few of these left, and the discovery was quite limited, so if you're a collector of Bolivian minerals, be sure to pick this one up.
