Item Description

Striking, diverging, parallel-growth enechelon clusters of curved saddle-shaped, flattened siderite rhombs are dramatically set on the thin crust of bubbly chalcedony botryoids. Mineral specimens are uncommon from this obscure mountain range, known for very fine rich green fluorite specimens and some chalcedony. Siderite is EXTREMELY RARE. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2442 and acquired the Southwest Show in April, 1962. The hilarious note on the back of her label states she got the piece from "(some stupid dealer)". Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Very rare and aesthetic, perhaps UNIQUE California siderite and chalcedony from the Cady Mts. Siderite is rare from any California locality. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
