Item Description

An incredibly hard to find old classic from Landsberg (Moschellandsberg) featuring crystallized "rosettes" of slightly iridescent chocolate brown Siderite, but when you flip the piece over you can see there is red Cinnabar underneath. I don't know if I've ever seen a piece of Siderite with Cinnabar like this from any locality. Honestly, good specimens of Siderite from Moschellandsberg are quite rare in my experience, but to have this odd association makes the piece all the more enticing. Do not miss out on this one if you collect German classics or unusual associations. Valued at $1,200. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10628). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
