Item Description

An old-time, uncommon and showy combination specimen from historic Baia Sprie (Felsobanya), Romania. The sculptural, mounded piece is composed of botryoidal siderite variety sphaerosiderite. The tan to olive-brown, moderately lustrous, botryoids are translucent. Water-clear, glassy, tabular, barite crystals, along with well-placed, partially coated, stibnite needles are a fine compliment. Bruising is noted, but this remains and extremely rich and rare example of this siderite varietal with accessory minerals. Comes with an old label, undoubtably 100 years or oler. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
