Item Description

Sphärosiderite (Sphaerosiderite) is the rare microcrystalline, botryoidal variety of Siderite. Specimens from the Columbia River basalts in the Spokane area are uncommon and are seldom available. This piece is a beautiful specimen featuring a pair of dark brown, lustrous (vitreous) radial aggregates free of matrix. I have never seen a piece quite like this from Spokane, and the "balls" typically are not intergrown like this piece, so you only get singles, and not a lovely "snowman"-shaped group like this piece. A really attractive and fine quality specimen of this hard to find material. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
