Item Description

Allevard siderites are a French classic, but this is possibly a unique combination from this locale having a striking 1.6 cm latticework of lustrous, wine-red rutile needles. Rutile is extremely rare from this locale. The 2.9 cm, sharp, lustrous, blocky, partially translucent, classic greenish-brown siderite rhomb rests on a mounded matrix of smaller, colorless to oxide-coated, blocky to flattened siderite rhombs. RARE, old-time and excellent combination material from this famous locale from the Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and purchased from the Autica Collection in Rome in 1960.
