Item Description

Native Silver has been found in thousands of localities around the world in various forms, ranging from wires to dendritic material to well-formed crystals. Some of the finest and most well-known specimens are those from the classic locality at Kongsberg, Norway. This historic mining district dates back nearly 400 years, and produced some of the most impressive and recognizable specimens of wire Silver and crystallized ever found. This particular specimen is an attractive thumbnail sized piece featuring attractive crystalline groups of Silver with a bright luster and color sitting on grey Calcite matrix. Some of the Silver groups have a dendritic appearance, when viewed up close. The piece is best viewed up close and would make a nice addition to a suite of native elements, thumbnails, or a collection of European classics. You don't see too many matrix Silvers from Kongsberg on the market these days. The piece comes from the collection of Colin Manlove.
