Item Description

Recently, a small group of miners risked losing their jobs at the Porco mine, and "liberated" some specimens from being sent to the smelter in an attempt to make some extra for their families. I was fortunate enough to obtain a few of these pieces, and they are by far some of the better contemporary Silver specimens that I've seen from this mine in a long time. Typically the Silver specimens from Bolivia are somewhat "flat" and boring, but this piece is somewhat aesthetic for a Bolivian Silver. It is a nice group with good form and eye-catching aesthetics. This is a good overall specimen from a classic Bolivian locality. PLEASE NOTE: We found some micro crystals of an unknown blue-green acicular mineral species, but nothing that's reported from the area really matches what we're seeing in the photos. The mine at Porco is THE oldest and most significant Silver mine in Bolivia. Enjoy.
