Item Description

Kongsberg Norway is one of the most prestigious silver-producing localities in the world, famous for its superb wire silver specimens, and fine crystallized silvers as well. This piece is a wonderful classic, old-time and sculptural specimen of crystallized/crystalline silver from this historic locality. This aesthetic piece has a showy three-dimensional form with an almost arborescent appearance. The bright color on the surface might be the result of the piece being cleaned, but it's hard to say. We acquired the specimen from an estate that had mostly gems and jewelry, but this lone Silver was in the mix, with a note that only said "1959" on it. Since the silver mines in Kongsberg were in operation from 1623 until 1958, this piece was likely acquired right after mining was finished. A wonderful and impressive example of these famous and highly sought after pieces. Specimen weight is 24.8 grams. Priced at $5,500 retail in our inventory.
