Silver on Copper (classic material)

While the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is best known for its copper, which was found in great quantity and quality, some of the most desirable examples are the uncommon combination of silver with copper. This beautiful dramatic display specimen features attractive patches of bright metallic crystalline silver sitting atop a very three-dimensional group of somewhat cavernous native copper matrix. There are some soft blue areas which are most likely Chrysocolla, a rarely seen association on this already uncommon classic combo. A showy and fine quality example of this historic and prized material from one of the great mining areas in the United States. Previously valued at $3,000 from the old DeNatura label, but I honestly think it's more in the $5,000 range in today's market, for the size, quality and visual appeal.
