Silver Proofs of Rock Currier metal figurines

Contributed by the Currier Collection and Jolyon Ralph, with text written by Jim Walker: Some of you may remember Rock Currier’s foray into the collectible miniature figure business via a venture known collectively as “Pewter on Pyrite”: originally an assortment of pewter figurines mounted on specimens of Pyrite. Later agate slabs were also used. The initial selection was centered thematically around scenes of miners doing miner sorts of things. Panning gold, drilling, pushing ore carts, etc. Friend and artist Bob Brewer was engaged to do the original sculpting of the figures which were then cast in Silver for use as master patterns for the molds used to cast the pewter. Production rapidly found a market in rock and gift shops all over the country. Rock was gleeful. Not one to rest on his laurels, Rock decided to broaden the line by looking for subjects beyond mining and similar themes. A momentary flash of inspiration led to the “Inner City” series: a mashup of urban ‘features’ both real and fanciful. There were winos and special women and other denizens of the Demi-monde that always seem to dependably furnish sleaze for reporters and readers alike. “Research” by the Brewers involved a drive down Hollywood Boulevard to assure authenticity. Donated for the benefit of Mindat, Rock’s favorite extra-mural activity, along with devising gags & pranks to trap the unwary. These are the original Silver masters from Rock Currier's estate. There was only ONE set of them. This is it.
