Item Description

This is a fantastic combo specimen of the classic association of silver with copper from the famous Upper Peninsula of Michigan. While neither of these native metals are particularly rare in the world, it's notably difficult to find the combination of both species in such showy specimens with both mineral clearly represented like this. This piece features gorgeous semi-arborescent crystalline groups of native silver sitting atop a matrix composed of native copper with a lovely antique patina and a bit of rainbow iridescence for a nice touch. Minor underlain Calcite can be seen as well, presumably some of it was dissolved away to better expose the silver and copper. These pieces are not only classics, but were mined a century ago, and nothing like them has been found in anywhere near the capacity of the pieces from Michigan. A wonderful and highly displayable piece of this historic material. There are a couple of German labels that accompany the piece, but with no previous collections listed. Priced in the inventory at $4,000.
