Item Description

The famed El Refugio Mine lies in the far northern corner of the Mexican state of Sinaloa, and has produced some of the most colorful and iconic examples of Smithsonite ever found. These piece are often botryoidal in their form, and feature a wide array of colors from warm to cool shades. This piece is a beautiful small cabinet featuring a coverage of attractive, slightly resinous spherical aggregates with a gentle silvery-lilac hue on matrix. The piece is in superb condition, as there is no damage on the display side and color is quite captivating. A classic example of these celebrated Smithsonites. From the collection of Sean Lincoln.
