Item Description

Smithsonite is a relatively rare gem in facetted stones. I have seen plenty of Smithsonite cabochons, but actual cut gems are not very common. This stone is has an attractive pastel blue-green hue and is a little "hazy" which is common even in good Smithsonite gems, but it's from IRAN of all places! It comes from a trusted source, so I believe it's genuine. The stone has an "Emerald" cut, and is a good size, attractive representation of this material. One does not encounter many of these on the market, and no rare gem collection is complete without a good Smithsonite. One of the very few Smithsonite stones that I have offered in the auctions in the last FIVE YEARS; that's how few of them come my way. Valued at $222 high retail. Enjoy.
