Item Description
Lovely, translucent gray-violet, rhombs of Smithsonite densely cover this cabinet specimen from Tsumeb. The Smithsonites are classic-curved rhombs with beveled edges displaying a pearly luster and faintly developed growth hillocks on the crystal faces. The largest of the rhombs is 3 cm across and the other Smithsonites average over a centimeter in size. The crystals are transparent enough for the variegated off-white and gray matrix to show through the Smithsonite crystal aggregates and influence their color for great effect. Overall this large piece is impressive for its big crystals, sharp rhombohedral forms and its aesthetics.
