Item Description

When blue Smithsonite comes up in conversation, I think it's safe to say that the majority of collectors immediately think of the famous Kelly Mine in New Mexico. This locality has produced some of the most outstanding specimens of the species extant in terms of size, color, quality and displayability. This piece features a good sized coverage of semi-lustrous, translucent, rich blue color radiating aggregates on matrix. The piece is in good shape in the central portion, but the exterior edges are obviously contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Still very good quality all around, and a wonderful representation of this classic material from one of the most well-known localities in the Western United States. From the collection of Sean Lincoln.
