Smithsonite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Gorgeous pink Smithsonite is coating "pods" of a dark sulfide (possibly Galena?). The outermost layer of the Smithsonites transition into a golden-brown and colorless hue creating a stark two-tone effect. Unusual and showy, and a great piece to add to a Tsumeb suite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6388). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
