Smithsonite (fine quality)

Item Description

A beautiful and fine quality Smithsonite from the discovery in the summer of 2021 at the Yanga Koubenza Quarries in the Mfouati District of Republic of the Congo. This piece is highly reminiscent of the famous Smithsonites from the Kelly Mine in New Mexico or the classics from Choix, Mexico as it has high vitreous luster with good translucency. This piece features rolling botryoidal Smithsonite aggregates of a beautiful greenish-blue color, associated with minor Aurichalcite and Rosasite on minor matrix. No damage and high quality, better than the vast majority of the specimens from this find. No more have been found for a couple years now, so don't miss out on this one as it's really choice for the locality and the species in general.
