Item Description
A rich and classic, old-time smithsonite specimen from this ancient zinc mine, that closed in 1884. Spherical aggregates of lustrous, translucent, ocherous, smithsonite rhombs totally cover the mounded matrix. Very fine and pristine material. Ex Zelimir Gabelica and Tim Welting Collections. I am told by some people that they consider this the type locality for smithsonite, although I cannot find a record of that online.
