Item Description

A beautiful and classic specimen of the famous Smithsonite pseudomorphs after Calcite from the San Antonio Mine in the Santa Eulalia District of Mexico. Resinous, silvery-tan colored Smithsonite has pseudomorphed after dogtooth-shaped Calcite scalenohedrons on this sculptural and showy display specimen. The pseudomorphs measure up to 3.1 cm. The bruised and broken spots around the lower portion of the periphery reveal that these are Smithsonite "casts" (epimorphs/perimorphs), with hollow interiors visible. Older classic material from the 1990s.
