Item Description

The ancient Mezica Mine of Slovenia started ore production in the 1400s and may have been worked by the Romans! But, smithsonite specimens from this historic locale are extremely rare and are very rarely on the market. A showy, curved, boxwork crust is covered on all sides with lustrous, translucent, light brown, smithsonite microcrystals formed in botryoids. A tiny bit of periphery wear is a very modest detraction to such uncommon material. Ex Mullane Collection and comes with an older Bourget Bros. label.
