Item Description

This locality gets its name for the attractive Aquamarine crystals that have been found. It also produced some beautiful Smoky Quartz crystals in recent years. With that said, specimens are seldom seen on the market. Here we have a really eye-catching, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, richly colored Smoky Quartz crystal group that is free of matrix. Looking on all sides, I can see that the piece is nearly crystallized 100% of the way around (only a couple tiny points of contact), so I would call it a near "floater" specimen! The underside of the crystal is what people refer to as "re-healed", but it's actally "healed" / recrystallized. You can see defined crystals faces all over the underside. When backlit, the center of the crystal is notably transparent, with a lovely slightly golden color, but each end is more translucent. I can see a tiny bit of a blue color closer to the termination, which could be from minor inclusions of Aquamarine(?). Good size, quality and crystallization on this attractive cabinet display specimen. If you collect Quartz crystals or minerals of California, this is a very worthwhile piece to add to your collection. Valued at $850.
