Item Description

This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece was personally collected by Wulff in the 1960s This is a great old display piece of featuring good quality, GEM/gemmy, sharp, very well-formed, lustrous prismatic crystals (one of which is doubly-terminated) of richly colored Smoky Quartz with minor Microcline underneath. When backlit, the crystals show they're nearly 100% WATER CLEAR, with only minor inclusions. The piece is nearly 100% complete, and it's a good quality significant old time specimen dating back probably around 50-55 years. An attractive display specimen from this noteworthy collection.
