Smoky Quartz (ex Willard Wulff Collection - collected Wulff)

This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. This is a great old display piece of featuring a good quality, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, prismatic doubly-terminated crystal group of richly colored Smoky Quartz. When backlit, the crystal shows it's nearly 100% WATER CLEAR in the center, while more translucent on the ends. The piece is nearly a 100% complete "floater" with only a few tiny nicks. It's a significant old time specimen dating back probably around 50-60 years. An attractive specimen from this noteworthy collection that was collected by Wulff himself.
