Item Description

This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). This is a great old display piece of featuring a good quality, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, prismatic doubly-terminated crystal group of richly colored Smoky Quartz. When backlit, the crystal shows it's nearly 100% WATER CLEAR in the center, while more translucent on the ends. The piece is nearly a 100% complete "floater" with only a few tiny nicks. It's a significant old time specimen dating back probably around 50-60 years. An attractive specimen from this noteworthy collection that was collected by Wulff himself.
