Item Description

A fine, gemmy, water-clear smoky quartz gwindel from Russia. This locality is now defunct, and someday will be as classic as any old Alpine location in Europe for similar material (though it would be even more pricey from Europe!). The crystal is staggered gently in the classic "twisted" form called a 'gwindel', with a very obvious twist to the growth in this case. The terminations are complete on both ends, with only very trivial, barely noticeable, light bruising to one crystal on the backside and one contact, with no damage, per se. The bottom side is the contact where the specimen was removed from matrix. Very fine glassy luster, with the back having a light dusting of micro chlorite crystals. An excellent gwindel of Swiss Alpine quality from the equivalent environment in Russia. These were mostly mined in the 1980s-early 1990s. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $125, for free. Valued at $1250
