Our numbers of the large, dramatic Gamsberg Smokies are dwindling as we near the final liquidation auctions of this massive old dealer stock and collection from Charlie Key, and this is a fine, attractive example. This piece consists of a large, single 17 cm Quartz (almost Smoky) crystal completely covered on one side by dozens upon dozens of sharp, gemmy Smoky Quartz crystals. The Smokies have excellent luster, many are doubly-terminated, and they range up to 4 cm in length. They are so numerous that they dominate the presentation view. As to be expected, this hard rock mining does occasionaly result in some damage to some of the crystals. It is unavoidable, but does not detract from the overall aesthetics. On balance, one of the more attractive of these large specimens we have offered. valued $2000
