Item Description

Spectrolite is the trade name for Labradorite which shows a strong internal "shiller", and is only found in a few world localities. The most famous Spectrolite is found in Finland, and was described by the famous Finnish geologist, Aarne Laitakari. This stone is from Madagascar, and is not only one of the VERY few cat's eye Spectrolite gems that I have seen, but one of the very few cat's eye Feldspars that I have handled. The stone has an "Oval Cabochon" cut with rich bronzy-red color, and a sharp, distinct "eye" running lengthwise across the gem. A great rarity, and an interesting gem to be sure. Valued at $135 high retail.
