Spessartine Garnet

Marienfluss spessartines used to set the standard, and were considered at one time the world's best spessartines for collectors, for sharpness, color, and gemminess. Today they are still desirable, just so rare most people have never seen one. This sharp crystal exceeds 1 cm and is very nicely colored a classic ultra-orange hue. It is, unusually, on matrix of quartz. In the past, I had seen only a handful of matrix specimens, as most crystals from here were recovered only loose when they came out (generally in the mid-1980s, I think?). A superb thumbnail or small miniature specimen, this is also an important loclaity garnet notable fo rquality and matrix association. Valued $750-900
