Item Description

A classic piece of the well-known Garnet Hill material from Nevada. This small cabinet specimen hosts a single, sharp, well-formed, nearly black (very dark red) trapezohedron of Spessartine measuring 8 mm across nestled in a vug of Rhyolite matrix. No damage, and a good example of these classic Garnet specimens. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1624). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
