Spessartine Garnet (ex Shields Flynn Collection)

Item Description

This piece is labeled as coming from a locality called "Nacle", but I can't find a listing for this name in any database, so I'm not entirely sure if it's accurate. With that said, this is a wonderful dodecahedral crystal of rich orange colored Spessartine, free of matrix. The piece is essentially a complete "floater", as it's crystallized on all sides, and is undamaged. The surface luster is what I would describe as being almost sugary or drusy, and it has an almost directional reflectiveness when it's rotated in the light. A very attractive Garnet thumbnail for any fan of Spessartines or Brazilian minerals. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
